The operation of many electronics devices depended upon the movement of charged particles i.e, electrons with in them. Therefore, it is very necessary to study the structure and arrangement of atoms in solids. The objective of my blog is to present elementary knowledge about the physical structure of the solid(atom).
ATOM:
"The smallest particle of an element, which can not be further divided, and retain the characteristics of that element is called an atom."
STRUCTURE:
There are three fundamental particles in an atom.
- Electron.
- Proton.
- Neutron.
ELECTRON:
- It carries negative(-ve) charge.
- Electrons revolves around the nucleus in eliptical fixed orbits. e.g(egg shope).
PROTON:
- It carries positive(+ve) charge.
NEUTRON:
- It is electronically neutral ; which means it carries no charge.
