"The property of a substance due to which it opposes or limit the flow of current through it. It is denoted by 'R' and measured in Ohm, represented by Omega sign'."
OHM:
The unit of resistence is ohm. It can be defined as;
"A conductor is said to have a resistance of one ohm, If it allows one ampere current flow through it, by applying one volt potential difference across its terminals."
R=V/I
The form R=V/I, shows that resister can be calculated dividing the voltage across resistance by current flowing through it. Actually resistance measures the opposition offered to the motion of the free electrons due to their continuous collision with the atom of the conductor. Resistance oppeses the flow of current through a conductor. This form can be used to define the practical units of resistance.
R=V/I
Or 1Ohm=1Volt/1Ampere
"If one ampere currents flows through a circuit by applying one volt potential difference, then amount of resistance is equal to one ohm."
In short, Resistor main funtion is to limit current flow or reduce the voltage in a electronic circuit.
